The Adopt a Parkway sign on Park Avenue has again disappeared along with its pole. Gay and Lesbian Community members say vandalism and theft hit repeatedly since 2005, with the latest theft recorded on Feb. 15. Replacement sign planned later this month.

City OKs use of TIF funds for five improvement projects
Aiken City Council unanimously approved $300 000 in Tax Increment Financing for five projects. Plans include a $115 000 park at Richland Avenue and York Street with a gazebo and wrought iron fence, along with parkway water and electric lines and a Bee Lane and Sea Lane streetscape, a Union Street area design charette, and a WesleyUnited Methodist parking lot using grasscrete.
