District Judge Refuses To Reinstate Mitchell
U S District Judge Dennis Shedd in Columbia refused to reinstate Theo Mitchell the expelled Greenville Democrat from the South Carolina Senate or delay the May 23 special election to replace him. The judge said the Senate acted within its rights when it expelled Mitchell on January 17 after he pled guilty to misdemeanor IRS reporting violations.

Lawsuit filed against DSS over infant death plea
Fifteen defendants named in a federal suit against social services workers and a foster family in the Keena White case. Columbia attorney Sally Walker expects the case in U S District Court in Aiken in September. Judge Simons ordered DSS to produce internal review files on Keena White’s death.
