AAUW Book N Things Fair wraps 40th year success
The AAUW Book N Things Fair ends its 40th year after a rainy weekend with 42 tables of books selling briskly. Proceeds fund a USCA scholarship for an Aiken County freshman and support education projects. Donated books go to groups including the Salvation Army and the county detention center.

Seven Gables revival in North Augusta bids grand re open
North Augusta natives Herbert and Cecil Barnes plan a yard sale of diner tables and booths from the Seven Gables once known as the Buffalo Room. The Tudor 1902 building seized in a drug raid is undergoing extensive repairs ahead of a June grand opening with a preview dinner for locals.

Scholarship backer to be guest of honor at USCA concert
Long time Aiken resident van Miller will be honored at a March 31 USCA Etherredge Center concert at 8 pm. Miller funds the Golden Age of Music Scholarship supporting a student devoted to early 20th century American music. Conducted by Sandra Fiel the program will feature works by Berlin Kern Gershwin Porter Rogers and Arlen among others. Tickets are $5 for adults $2 for students and box office details are 641 3305.

National Wild Turkey Association wins Making Tracks award
The National Wild Turkey Federation receives the Making Tracks award for conservation education at Savannah River Site. NWTF promotes JAKES to youth with support from US Forest Service and SRS, including 1000 relocated birds and 12 000 yearly participants in a science and engineering program. An award is planned for March 18 in Washington DC.
