Padgett Pond in Saluda County a restored heritage site
Padgett Pond sits four miles northwest of Monetta in a quiet Saluda County valley with the county’s highest waterfall. Gene Berry bought the land in 1993, holds titles dating to 1779, and rebuilt the mill house and a two story log home. The site, once a gristmill and community gathering place, now serves educational conservation and recreation with rules against hunting or fishing without permission, no fires, and care for the area.
