Aiken Anecdotes Tap Roots Of Aiken History
Aiken citizens view the Staubes family as enduring roots of the town. John Staubes Sr. served the Aiken County Historical Commission from 1959 to 1968 and collected many facts for the state archives. His grandfather, born in 1848 in Germany, helped found Aiken’s first post office and built many local homes, leaving a legacy through generations of Johns.
