Engineer delights Jackson middle students with marshmallow vacuum demo

Savannah River National Lab engineer Annamarie MacMurray visited Jackson Middle School to demonstrate air pressure using a vacuum on a marshmallow. Students predicted shrinking, watched the marshmallow compress, then expand as air rushed back, sparking interest in science and STEM paths.
