Bodine Fails to Make Las Vegas Winston Cup Field
Bodine's Pontiac bogged down in second-round qualifying with a speed of 162.489 mph, leaving him 42nd as he missed the 36-car field and any provisional spots. Jimmy Spencer led the session at 164.770, earning the 29th starting berth while Mayfield Skinner and Waltrip also made the cut. NASCAR may pursue a rule change next week in response to GM complaints about Ford aero advantage ahead of Darlington.
