Bermuda Triangle stretch U S 278 blamed for deadly crashes
Aiken County coroner Sue Townsend calls U S 278 through Aiken County the Bermuda Triangle and says it is the deadliest road in the area. In ten years 31 people have died on the two lane highway, and last week Silver Bluff High School students Jason Limehouse and Joshua Loveday were killed when their truck collided with an 18 wheeler. Townsend notes few curves, heavy truck use, and infrequent patrols contribute to the danger. The road runs from the Georgia line through Beech Island to Barnwell County.

Body of shooting victim found in Graniteville area
Riders discovered the body of an unidentified black man estimated to be 30 to 35 years old in a wooded area near a utility line right of way between Fields Cemetery and Bettis Academy roads in Graniteville. Black History Month ends with a bang in Aiken
