Shawn Merritt, a Lancaster man, died at ATI Allvac in Richburg after 9 p.m. Tuesday from asphyxiation in a section filled with super cooled liquid nitrogen. The plant is shut down as investigators review the incident at the titanium nickel and specialty alloy mill serving aerospace and medical industries.
