Union victory at Wackenhut guards vote at RS facility
Of 659 eligible guards, 85 did not vote and some groups were barred from ballots. To qualify, guards had to be in their jobs as of May 20 and remain employed since then. With workers voting to unionize, the NLRB will issue a representation certification within 10 days. DOE declined to comment, calling it a private matter between Wackenhut and its employees. Other DOE nuclear facilities also have unionized security staff.
