EPA report faults EPA asbestos funds distribution to schools
An EPA inspector general draft says federal asbestos funds went to schools with minor damage while heavily exposed and severely burdened districts were left unfunded. The report cites 10 schools with 36 hours weekly exposure receiving 387000 dollars versus eight schools with 19173 hours exposure getting nothing though seeking 391000 dollars. Rep. Florio, a key author of the 1984 relief law, condemns the outcome as harming children.
