Miss Teague Inspired Aiken Historian Joe Barsh
Joe Barsh, graduate salutatorian of Aiken Institute in 1931, credits Miss ElizA beth Teague for pushing him to write a history paper on Aiken. The piece, The History of Aiken, by Joseph Benjamin Barsh, was published in the Aiken Journal & Review on June 5 1931. Barsh later ran Barsh Electric Co for 40 years before retiring. Born in Darlington, he moved to Aiken in 1925 at age 14 and would have finished high school sooner if not for a delay.
