D C motorists to hit the gas after 65 mph signs posted

Gov. Carroll Campbell signed the 65 mph speed limit bill into law enabling higher speeds on many interstate segments in South Carolina. Signs are expected to go up July 15 16. I 95 and large stretches of I 26 and I 20 will carry 65 mph with some 60 mph sections.

Interstate 26 and surrounding interchanges adopt new limits

South Carolina announces speed limit changes on major corridors. I 26 from the North Carolina line to I 85 will be 65 mph. I 85 from the Georgia border to US 29 exit is 65 mph. Other segments include 60 mph on I 385 to Clinton and US 221 to I 385, 65 mph on US 76 to Richland County, and 60 mph on I 385 to Greenville County toward Spartanburg.
