County Considers Budget in Aiken County Council Meeting

The third reading and public hearing on the revised budget by County Administrator W. Scott Barnes is set for tomorrow night’s Aiken County Council meeting. Special Prosecutor Finds No Basis to Prosecute Donovan

Special Prosecutor Leon Silverman said investigators found insufficient credible evidence to charge Labor Secretary Raymond Donovan with any crimes. A Brooklyn federal grand jury also declined to indict on organized crime allegations, after a six month probe. The three volume, 1000 page report was released by the U S Court of Appeals panel in Washington.

Jury Trials Featured In Aiken Court Schedule

General Sessions Court in Aiken County will hear cases this week at the Aiken County Courthouse. Criminal court runs today through Friday at about 9 30 a.m. Judge George F Coleman of the Sixth Circuit will preside. Guilty pleas were set for today with four or five jury trials planned later and a possible murder indictment among new cases.
