County plan nears adoption with health initiative input
Aiken County advances its 10 year comprehensive plan adding health recommendations from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. The ordinance to amend the plan passed the first of three readings at the County Council meeting. The county earned a DHEC grant to include the agency's Health Planning initiative.

Aiken Council to settle Woodland Pond case and start Northside Park phase
In its final 2015 16 meeting the Aiken City Council will consider a settlement with Hopeland Farms over Woodland Pond maintenance and flood risk. The body will also vote to begin phase one of Northside Park a $52 million 118 acre project on Columbia Highway with an amphitheater trails ADA playground rest area and green space expected to run 15 to 20 years with phase one due to finish by summer.
