Man charged with murder in death of 16 year old

Police say Wilbur Lee Kimpson 23 of St. Matthews drove a dark van that delivered Julia Elaine Lee 16 to Orangeburg Calhoun Regional Hospital at 2 05 am Tuesday where she was pronounced dead. Coroner says death due to blunt head injury and the driver fled after dropping her off. Investigators believe the assault occurred in a residential area near Orangeburg along US 301. Kimpson was arrested Tuesday at his Orangeburg workplace and is awaiting a bond hearing.

Funeral Held For Debra Helmick Under Tight Guard

The 9 year old Debra Helmick was mourned at a heavily guarded service with local state and federal officers patrolling, as detectives search for the killer who abducted her from Richland County on June 14. Police seek the suspect linked to the death of 17 year old Shari Smith, found June 5 in Saluda County.
