Halley's Comet Seen Forming Dusty Atmosphere
Astronomers from Arizona State University and Paris Institute d Astrophysique report Halley's comet developing an atmosphere as its ice and dust nucleus releases material. Findings, presented at the Astronomical Society of the Pacific meeting, support the dusty snowball theory and will be published in Nature. Halley’s will be visible to the naked eye by late January.
