Second suspect turns himself in in elder exploitation case
The second suspect in a case involving more than $30,000 taken from an elderly family member and unpaid nursing home bills surrendered to Aiken Public Safety on Monday. Mark Hudgins 48 of Mockernut Circle faces exploitation of a vulnerable adult charges. His wife Michelle surrendered last week. The victim is Hudgins 84 year old father. Hudgins chairs the City Environmental Committee. City Manager says little new has been released and staff usually goes on administrative leave in such cases.

Aiken County Sheriff Reports Arrests and Thefts
The sheriff’s office reports a suspect in a shooting case surrendered within an hour of a van being found at Augusta Mall. A second man remains charged while both are held at the Aiken County Detention Center. A burglaries surge yields at least four thefts including a shotgun, jewelry, electronics and more. A pursuit on Carline Road ends with a suspect caught by a pedestrian. The Aiken Center for the Arts closes briefly for repairs with summer art camp displays.

Augusta woman charged as accessory after North Augusta murder
Myra Wright of Augusta had bond set at 100000 by Judge Danny Lynn Jr at the Aiken County Detention Center. Wright is charged in the killing of Extracman Fat Holloway, 32, while her boyfriend Dwaine Isaac faces murder charges. Police say she allowed Isaac to use her van and helped hide it after the shooting on Woodberry Lane following a verbal dispute over a woman. Wright met Isaac at her Augusta Mall job and drove him to 374 Woodberry Lane.

A delivery driver saw a broken side door and open office at 125 Richland Ave E. Three hundred dollars was reported missing. Police investigated an assault at Alfred Street later, where a knife-wielding intruder chased and threatened the resident, then demanded property. A peeping Tom was also reported on Schroeder Avenue.
