One adult and two Boy Scouts from Troop 115 tested positive for swine flu while at Camp Daniel Boone in Haywood County North Carolina earlier this month but have fully recovered. In total 13 scouts and seven adults attended the camp near Asheville. The troop is linked to St Mary Help of Christians Church. Sixteen attendees left the camp over June 12 13 after cases appeared.
Fireworks stands have appeared around Aiken as residents prep for Fourth of July. Ginger Rybicki vows to win the display contest, stocking up at Wacky Wayne's and eyeing Garden in the Spring as crowds flock to varieties from Southern Thunder Rockets to Grand Finales.
Aiken Regional Medical Center doctor Edwin Martinez de Andino, 47, was jailed after alleged Sunday morning attack on a former girlfriend's home on Wagoner Road. He is charged with first degree burglary and two counts of malicious injury to property for damaging a door, a window and two vehicles.
Erica L. Paradise, 21, of Graniteville, pleaded guilty to child abuse causing great bodily injury for striking and throwing a 7 month old at her home day care on November 24 2008. She received 10 years with six years in jail suspended and four years probation after prosecutors sought 10. Paradise denied the allegations.
