Ex-DSS official in prison faces disorderly conduct arrest

Paul Timothy Moore 61 former Department of Social Services finance director awaiting a 10 year federal sentence for stealing more than 5 million was arrested early Sunday for disorderly conduct at a Clearwater Waffle House He was described as grossly intoxicated and belligerent and taken to the Aiken County Detention Center The incident may affect his ongoing federal case but no clear impact is provided

Aiken School District eyes 2011 12 budget gaps and reserves

The Aiken County School District, despite a $144.5 million operating budget for 2010-11, plans for 2011-12 amid reduced per pupil state funding from $2034 in 2009-10 to $1630. Federal funds will add over $200 per student, but cuts and looming losses from stabilization and stimulus programs threaten soon.
