North Augusta Girl Dies After Accidental Gunshot

An eight year old girl, Lisa Marie Riley, died from a self inflicted .22 caliber pistol shot while playing at a friends home in Murphy Village. The incident occurred about 11:15 Saturday morning and she died about an hour later at University Hospital according to Edgefield Coroner W Thurmond Burnett. The report identifies no other injuries or individuals involved.

Alvin King III broke into the First Baptist Church in Daingerfield Texas and opened fire during a Sunday service killing five including a 7 year old girl and wounding ten before turning the gun on himself. The gunman used multiple firearms and shouted This is war as he entered the church.

New Fire Hydrant Installed in Nicholson Village

Nicholson Village near Aiken gains improved fire protection with a newly installed hydrant three weeks ago.
