Aiken Public Safety detained an Aiken man for possession of a stolen vehicle and arrested him, taking him to the Aiken County detention center. Incident details include a resident reporting phone scam attempts and multiple thefts and unauthorized card use at local Walmarts.
A June 20 bookings list from the Doris C. Gravat Detention Center shows numerous individuals with charges including driving under the influence, criminal domestic violence, simple possession, open container, shoplifting, and fraudulent checks. Several entries note bench warrants, probation violations, or failures to appear, with ages ranging mostly in the 20s and 30s.
A large pile of scrap metal removed from the City of Aiken owned building at 135 Laurens St was reported stolen from the work site. The value is estimated at 2000 to 3000 dollars and items stolen include metal pipe galvanized duct work two hot water heaters a stainless steel sink chrome faucets and a copper refrigerant.
