Mead Hall formally acquires Aiken Prep after a merger discussed by board member Kathy Huff. The joint entity will be Mead Hall Episcopal School with two campuses, using the Mead Hall Pendleton Street site for the younger students and the Aiken Prep campus for middle and high school students.

The 2013 budget adds nine positions to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office including four dispatchers four patrol sergeants and a tax enforcement deputy with a recurring annual cost around 400000. The plan promotes four sergeants from within the pool creating two sergeants per shift and a lieutenant. The change aims to shorten back up times across the 1000 square mile county.
An Aiken County deputy, Scott Baynham 29 of North Augusta, was terminated after a Wednesday DUI arrest in Wagener. He was off duty in his personal vehicle when stopped at 3:30 a.m. and refused a breath test, with his license suspended.
