Marine's family sues over DUI crash death in Beaufort
The family of Marine Capt. Carlton Sanders sued Jesse Lee Bennett III and Ocean Light Corporation in Beaufort County General Sessions court seeking damages. Bennett, 36, was sentenced nine years for reckless homicide and five years for felony DUI for the April 25, 2002 wreck that killed Sanders, 30, an aviator at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. Also named is Ocean Light president Charles Steinmeyer. Sanders died from injuries after his car was struck from behind by Bennett’s Ocean Light truck.
