Distant Iraqi assets show up in banks abroad
Associated Press reports that assets tied to Saddam Hussein amount to hundreds of millions in European and Middle East banks though few items bear his name. Swiss and other officials note accounts likely belong to Iraqi government interests, with no clear ownership beyond official balances. Uranium looted from Iraq's Tuwaitha facility is feared missing, with diplomats saying tens of tons of natural uranium and nearly two tons of low enriched uranium possibly unguarded near the site after Iraqi forces withdrew.
