Edgefield man denied bond in file on Melissa Clary murder
Ai ken County magistrate denied bond for James Michael Hooper II 21 of North Augusta in the death of 29 year old Melissa Clary. The suspect faced a murder charge with first hearing set for August 3 2018 after deputies found Clary stabbed and strangled at her North Augusta home following a June 1 call. An autopsy June 12 attributed death to blunt force trauma to the head and strangulation. Hooper had a on again off again relationship with Clary and a child together before turning himself in and being held at the Aiken County detention center.

The Aiken Scholars Academy will join about 1,500 schools worldwide in launching the Advanced Placement Capstone Diploma program this fall on the USC campus in Aiken.
