Whiskey Road Corridor study briefing presented to county leaders
County leaders and federal officials heard the final briefing on the Whiskey Road Corridor study at the Aiken County Government Center. Project manager Mike Rutowski of Stantec outlined a yearlong effort with infographics and design ideas to address storm water issues and safety along the corridor, with public access planned and another input session possible. Tens of thousands of cars use the corridor daily, officials said, marking storm water management and safety as top priorities.

Perry remembered for service humor candor
Robert S. Skipper Perry Jr. a longtime Aiken public servant died at 77. He served on the Aiken City Council from 1971 to 1989 and in the South Carolina legislature from 1999 to 2008. He was named 2016 Man of the Year by the Aiken Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Order of the Palmetto. He was known for his Segway tours and candid humor.
