Like father like son in Barnwell County sheriff tale
Ed Carroll follows his late father Marvin Carroll as Barnwell County sheriff, growing up in the old county jail, living above it, and recalling radio calls and deputies who provided their own cars and guns. The father died in 1971 after a heart attack. Carroll notes memories of his hometown and the changing role of the office.
