Aiken plans a multi phase project on Whiskey Road from Pine Log Road to Arby s with drainage and curb work followed by landscaping and lighting. One lane will close during the day and the project should finish in a couple months before school starts. A August beautification of Eastgate Drive roundabout is planned.
An Aiken man Carl E. Adams 45 died at MCG shock trauma after a Thursday night head on collision on the Aiken Bypass. He was not wearing a seat belt. Adams was driving a 1987 Ford pickup pulling a trailer eastbound when it crossed the center line and struck a 2001 Nissan pickup driven by a 55 year old Sundee Drive resident at a curve near Gregg Highway.
The Ridge Peach Festival returns in Trenton with events from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. music by Fort Gordon Marching Band and local acts, a 10:30 a.m. parade, rides for kids, peach treats, arts and crafts, and a post festival dance from 7 p.m. to 12:45 a.m. Grand marshals are the 13 pioneers of the festival.
