Combatting powdery mildew of flowering dogwood
Powdery mildew has plagued flowering dogwood in the Southeast since 1994. The fungus infects young leaves, spreads by wind, and survives winter on fallen leaves or infected buds. Control includes raking leaves, timed fungicides such as myclobutanil and propiconazole, and using resistant Cornus kousa and C florida x kousa cultivars.
