Moniz outlines future German and other uranium shipments to SRS
Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz told the Aiken Standard that decisions on sending German highly enriched uranium to the Savannah River Site are likely about 18 months away. He said SRS could host processing in H Canyon, with 6,000 gallons of Canadian enrichment planned next fiscal year, plus potential Japanese plutonium shipments, while safety and tank-closure efforts continue alongside a $70 million facility expansion.

MOX funding overruns and MOX alternatives at Savannah River Site
DOE chief Moniz says the Savannah River Site MOX project faces cost overruns and sequestration budget cuts. He notes more than 1 billion dollars annually would be required to fund plutonium disposition, with a September release planned on MOX alternatives and potential repurposing of nearly 5 billion dollars of past work. Derrek Asberry reports for the Aiken Standard.
