Convicted murderer Arthur Hastings Wise may face a several month delay as his lawyers file a motion for a stay. Wise was convicted in 2001 for killing four workers at Aiken's R E Phelan plant on September 15, 1997. The South Carolina Supreme Court set an execution date for July 9, and a stay request could push that date. Solicitor Barbara Morgan said the appeal was filed or being filed and that the U S Supreme Court may or may not hear the case.
