Storm chaser Floyd pursues tornadoes with Virginia Tech team
Maria Floyd, a Mississippi State trained storm spotter, joined a Virginia Tech led ten person team for a 12 day Plains chase in Kansas and Nebraska. They predicted storm formation, followed super cells, and waited hours at a truck stop for a tornado to form. Floyd drives a van while Dave Carroll coordinates. The expedition aimed to position for the next day and the day after as they analyzed atmospheric conditions and satellite data.
