AP reports six people shot during a fourth day of racial violence in Miami. Snipers fired from dark buildings as police clashed with groups in Brownsville and other Negro sections. Over 50 arrests were made for curfew violations and looting as firebombs and property damage occurred. two schools were damaged and no one in the latest shootings was listed in serious condition.
Former President Sukarno, 69, is near death at an army hospital in Jakarta after a coma and severe illness. Relatives at the bedside say recovery is unlikely as doctors warn the chances of survival are slim and he remains too weak to speak to family.
Gov. Albert Brewer, after losing the Democratic nomination to George Wallace, says he will not seek re election as an independent. He told reporters he has a moral obligation to accept the election results and plans to return to practicing law after leaving office.
Dean Martin will continue as host and star of NBCs Dean Martin Show described as long term with its sixth season. NBC President Don Durgin announced the program will air at 10 p m Thursdays starting next fall. The exact number of years was not disclosed.
The Civil Aeronautics Board authorized airlines to round fares up to the next higher dollar effective July 1. The move came after a rise in the passenger tax from 5 to 8 percent created uneven fare amounts. The change will raise airline revenue by about 0.9 percent.
Dr. Jonas Salk and Françoise Gilot announce plans to marry July 9 in Paris. Gilot, 48, is a former mistress of Pablo Picasso with whom she had two children during 11 years together. Salk, 55, has been married once before and was divorced in 1968.
Actor Bob Crane of Hogan's Heroes fame must pay $1700 monthly alimony for 10 years and $600 monthly child support for three children after his 21 year marriage ended. A Superior Court commissioner also ordered him to transfer his Tarzana home to his wife Anne.
Opera star Maria Callas says she will travel to the Soviet Union starting Sunday at the invitation of Culture Minister Ekaterina Furtseva. She plans to attend music competitions, be received at the Kremlin, and visit Leningrad.

A South Carolina official said Beech Island water was among three systems allegedly contaminated during Augusta Georgia rioting last month. Beech Island officials dispute the link calling the timing a coincidence and noting the tank was dumped after the discovery.
Aiken police destroyed a suspected marijuana patch found near Powder House Road on property recently purchased by the Aiken County SPCA. Residents reported a young white male ferrying water for the plants. a warrant is issued for a white male for growing and possession, but not yet returned as he has left town.
The Aiken County Library received 2700 in two donations on Wednesday that will be matched by county funds. City of Aiken contributed 2300 for educational items for library use by city employees and the public. Friends of the Library added 400. Funds buy furniture, reference books, AV equipment and microfilmed periodicals.
