One year after ARMC formed its open heart surgery program it has treated 130 patients exceeding the 75 planned. Another 351 cardiac cases were handled in the catheterization lab sparing surgery. Three day and two day discharges, average 4.89 days, 3 percent mortality. Local pride and strong community support noted.

Aiken celebrates All-America City Week with proclamation
Mayor Fred B. Cavanaugh will read a proclamation Monday designating June 16 22 as All-America City Week in Aiken after winning the 1997 All-America City Award in Kansas City Missouri. A street party on Friday 6 to 9 p m will cap the celebration with food music and souvenirs.
