Laguna Niguel California AP reports Jack Armstrong a retired Air Force colonel and former radio hero known as the All American Boy has died at 74 after a long illness. He inspired Wheaties promotions used by General Mills while in college rooming with a future advertising executive.
Trans World Airlines would be acquired by Texas Air Corp for about 793.5 million. The offer values each TWA share at 23 in cash and debt securities. The move aims to head off a possible Icahn takeover and secures a friendly buyer for TWA.
Spartanburg based Milliken & Co announced closure of a Red Springs plant near Fayetteville North Carolina leaving about 250 textile workers unemployed.
