Council approves Woodside land annexation
The Aiken City Council unanimously approved the annexation of 529 acres southwest of Woodside to join the 800 acre phase three expansion of Woodside Plantation. The plan includes 75 acres for commercial use near Silver Bluff and Richardson's Lake roads, featuring a 10,000 square foot grocery store, 15 specialty stores, a restaurant, a 36-room inn, a day surgery center, 10 doctors offices, a health club, and a high tech business park. Traffic studies forecast heavier residential and commercial traffic on Silver Bluff Road, which planners say can handle the impact. The residential area will include about 960 housing units and an 18 hole Nicklaus designed golf course.
