Weather forecast stays warm with scattered storms

Warm conditions continue with highs in the upper 80s and lows around 65. Tonight a mix of mostly sunny skies and increasing clouds bring a 10 percent to 30 percent chance of thundershowers, then 20 percent tomorrow. Extended outlook for partly cloudy skies with mid 80s highs and mid 60s lows.

Taxpayers Group To Meet Tonight In Aiken

July Sentencing Set For Thurmond and Shaffer

U S District Court Judge Robert R Merhige Jr said the sentencing of Dr George A Thurmond and Mrs Shaffer may be delayed until July due to a crowded schedule. The two were convicted May 26 in federal court on 23 counts of filing false Medicaid claims and three counts of attempting to cover up their crimes.

Woman recalls death encounter after heart attack

Elizabeth Gallegos describes a near death experience two weeks after a May 24 heart attack at her Trolley Line Road home. Paramedics Alan Cato and Kevin Ward relayed to Dr J William Thurmond who guided a ten minute revival using a heart shock unit after her ventricle fibrillation. She was clinically dead four to six minutes before her heart revived and she now recuperates with no fear of death though wary of future pain.
