Investigation by former federal Judge Harold Tyler found that Bess Myerson used her influence as New York City cultural affairs commissioner to affect the divorce case of Carl Capasso. Judge Hortense Gabel, presiding over the case, had her daughter hired as Myerson’s special assistant two weeks earlier.
