Aiken teen pleads guilty in 2015 Dollar General case
Antonio De Vonte Jackson, 18, pleaded guilty to attempted murder, attempted armed robbery, and possession of a pistol. He received 20 years for attempted murder, 20 years for attempted robbery, and 5 years for possession, to run concurrently. The judge sentenced him after prosecutors offered no recommendation. Spann testified he could not open the register, and a shot was fired but did not injure him.

South Aiken High School Thoroughbred Chorale earns a superior rating at the State Choral Performance Assessment in Columbia after a year highlighted by seven students joining the 2016 South Carolina All-State Chorus. The group, led by Craig Coelho, performed "Miserere Mei" and "The Pasture" with a first ever superior score for the school.
