Plutonium Shipment From Japan Reaches Savannah River Site
About 730 pounds of plutonium that left Japan on British flagged ships Pacific Heron and Pacific Egret arrived at the Savannah River Site and the Y-12 Complex near Oak Ridge Tennessee. The NNSA confirmed the arrival and said the material will be prepared for disposal at WIPP in New Mexico. The ships left Japan March 22 and were tracked publicly again this week.
