William J. Mottel, former Savannah River Plant manager, named director of employee relations for Du Pont European subsidiary, based in Geneva. He will oversee employee relations for Du Pont units in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, starting August 1. Aiken Winter Colony Aims for National Register listing

The Aiken Winter Colony faces a thematic nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. Three historic districts and six properties are proposed, spanning areas around Aiken Preparatory School Colleton Avenue Easy Street Hitch cock Woods Palmetto and Highland Park golf courses Whitney Polo Field and large houses. The process could reach the Interior Department for approval with an August review in Aiken.

Bill Makes Baby Selling Felony in South Carolina

The South Carolina Senate tentatively passed a bill making baby selling a felony. The measure targets private adoptions and sets a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Senator Nick Theodore says the law closes gaps and aligns with other states.

Probate Race Set for June 12 in Aiken County
