Aiken County judge declined to accept Joseph L. Jones 35 guilty plea on multiple charges after he refused to admit to assaulting a woman. Jones remains jailed at the Aiken County detention center as a new court date is scheduled.
City of Aiken crews will repair a water main near Powderhouse Road and Woodwardia Glen starting around 9 a.m. Tuesday. The road will narrow to one lane with flaggers directing traffic for about eight hours. Drivers should slow down and use caution in the work zone.

Friday a daughter stole makeup dress and hair products from Maurice Terrace. A woman reported theft of two Diazacm-rectal packs Nikon lease driver license cell phone Adderall and $20 from Alpine Drive. A Morgan Street residence theft included Playstation 3 and 4, diamond necklace, gold chain, laptop, $50, Apple charger. York Street business window repair estimated at $3,000 after a break in. A wallet was stolen from a business Saturday and a truck stolen Sunday from Camellia Street. A 2002 Sea Craft boat reported stolen from Orangeburg Street Sunday. A York Street business theft of $90 reported Sunday on Whiskey Road. A daughter's knife threat led to assault and battery charge and false information charge. Police charged a woman for attempting to steal $324.43 of items on Whiskey Road Sunday.
