Hunt Named Sheriff of the Year in Aiken County

Habitat home to be built in five days

In Warrenville a five day build underway as 400 Habitat for Humanity homes are planned nationwide this week. Robert Girardeau, past president of the Aiken County Home Builders Association, coordinates volunteers from local crews working four hours per shift to complete the project.

Federal lawsuit revived against killer and employer

The Carpenters press a revived federal suit against convicted killer Robert Atkins and his former employer Airborne Express Inc Moore Express Inc alleging the companies failed to background check enabling entry to Jessica Carpenter 17 in Crosland Park. The suit argues Atkins used his delivery role to gain trust and entry while employed by the Georgia firms contracted to Airborne Express. Attorneys for Moore Express deny liability stating the act was unforeseeable and outside the scope of employment and control.
