NATO to ease campaign over Yugoslavia likely by Sunday

NATO leaders signaled a slowing air campaign against Yugoslavia as Milosevic pledged to begin withdrawing forces from Kosovo. NATO aims to halt bombing with Serb cooperation by weekend

Pentagon spokesman Kenneth Bacon said Serbs could end bombing by weekend or early next week if they cooperate, while warning delays could extend the campaign. NATO generals from the alliance, Russia, and Yugoslavia were to meet Saturday to discuss Serb withdrawal from Kosovo, with EU envoy Martti Ahtisaari involved. Belgrade signaled Yugoslav forces could depart Kosovo within seven days.

Conferees Try To Break Stalemate On Video Gambling Rules
