MOX Plant at Savannah River Site Faces Budget Strain
The MOX facility at Savannah River Site turns weapons-grade plutonium into reactor fuel as part of a U S Russia nonproliferation program to dispose of 34 metric tons. With 60 percent completion, the project runs 3 billion over budget at 7.7 billion and may trigger worker layoffs notices for about 2,100 employees.
