Atlanta Man Denies Slayings Link After Polygraph
A 23-year-old black man released after about 12 hours of questioning in the slayings of 28 youths in Atlanta says he denies involvement and calls himself a prime suspect. He spoke at a news conference at his northwest Atlanta home, saying polygraph results were inconclusive. Public Safety Commissioner Lee Brown stated the interview yielded no information leading to an arrest.

SRP Plans Pilot Plant To Test Laser Isotopic Separation
Savannah River Plant will host a pilot laser enrichment facility to test producing plutonium and uranium for the nation’s weapons program. If successful a full scale plant could follow costing hundreds of millions of dollars with possible reallocation of SRP reprocessing work. The DOE seeks 21.8 million this year plus 8.2 million added by the House committee and 30 million in 1982 for laser isotopic studies nationwide.

Jury Panel Expanded in Koon Murder Case in Aiken County
In a two day session in Aiken County General Sessions Court 20 jurors have qualified for a 35 member panel for the Paul Koon murder trial. The case involves the death of Valerie White Newsome abducted Sept 6 and found Oct 15 near the Edgefield line. Jurors will decide guilt or innocence and, if guilty, life or death penalty with potential alternates.
