The Aiken County Board of Education invites the public to a 6 p.m. session on the tentative 2013 14 budget at 1000 Brookhaven Drive. The district, with 24 000 students and 3 000 employees, faces a 2.2 million shortfall and plans a 5.8 mill increase in operations and a 2.5 mill decrease in debt service to balance expenditures.

The forum addresses higher health insurance premiums and new requirements amid a $2.5 million drop in the Office of Special Programs due to federal sequester and tightened General Assembly spending rules.
