The Aiken Standard publishes a special graduation section saluting the class of 1985. About 1,350 students in Aiken County are graduating this year marking a transition to young adulthood after 12 years of school.
Aiken High School starts at 6 p.m. in the USC Aiken gym. Midland Valley High School grads 247 at 8 p.m. in its gym. North Augusta’s 318 graduates also at 8 p.m. in their gym. Ridge Spring Monetta has 54 graduates at 8 p.m. in Monetta. Silver Bluff and South Aiken plan 8 p.m. ceremonies on June 4. Wagener Salley hosts 8 p.m. graduation at the football field.
The Aiken Civic Ballet directed by Carl Crosby performs at 7 in Hopelands Gardens as part of the Summer Series. Parking is at Rye Patch on Berrie Road off Whiskey Road and attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets. The concert is free and open to the public.
Hundreds of law enforcement officers and volunteers resume a daylong search for 17 year old Sharon Faye Shari Smith missing since Friday. Her car was found at her Red Bank home driveway with purse and medicine inside. footprints led to the mailbox but no further trace.
