In a conference panel the General Assembly hashed out DUI penalties, proposing 200 dollar fines and up to 30 days jail for first offense, 1000 dollar fines and up to a year for second, 3000 dollar fine and at least 90 days for a fourth offense, and one to five years for fifth or subsequent convictions. The group split on whether a third offense within five years should trigger 60 days jail or public service.
